Announcing auditions - "Oliver!"

Director Kate Walker has announced audition information for "Oliver!" - the fourth production in the 2014-2015 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

Nothing works on the stage like a well-crafted tale, and Oliver! is just such a show. Based on the Charles Dickens novel, it will engage the audience with its pathos and drama, while delighting everyone with its outstanding musical numbers. "Food, Glorious Food," "I'd Do Anything," "Where is Love?," "Consider Yourself," "As Long As He Needs Me," "Who Will Buy" and "Reviewing the Situation" are musical theatre classics. Dickens' characters are brought to life - perhaps larger than life - with all their facets glowing in this production.

* Kate seeks to cast several boys, girls, men and women for the production. The minimum audition age is 8.

* Auditions will be 6:30-9 p.m. on Monday, January 5 and Tuesday, January 6 at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation building, 638 North Street in downtown Lafayette.

* Everyone is asked to prepare a 1-2 minute monologue and 16 bars of a musical theatre song not from the show.

* There will be a dance/movement audition as well. Please dress appropriately.

* Appointments are preferred, although not required. Please call the Civic Theatre office at 765-423-7529 to schedule your appointment.

* Callbacks, if necessary, will be Wednesday, January 7.
