In the Wings: A Christmas Story, the Musical. Meet Rudy Ahlersmeyer.

Rudy Ahlersmeyer plays Ralphie in A Christmas Story, the Musical, the holiday show in the 2014-2015 season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

The show runs Friday, Dec. 12 through Sunday, Dec. 14 at Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. 6th Street in downtown Lafayette. You can purchase tickets by calling 765-423-7529 or visiting http://lafayettecivic.tix.com.

Question: What is Ralphie like?
Rudy Ahlersmeyer: He is very persistent. He really wants a BB gun for Christmas, but he's rebuffed at every turn.

Q: Did you know the movie before you auditioned?
R.A.: Yes. It's one of my favorite Christmas movies. We always eat Chinese food while watching it. It's a very funny movie.

Q: What is your favorite part of the show?
R.A.: Probably "Ralphie to the Rescue." He imagines all these scenarios where he would need a BB gun while he tries to write his theme, imploring his teacher and parents to get him a BB gun for Christmas.

Q: Have you ever wanted a Christmas gift as much as Ralphie wants the BB gun?
R.A.: No, I haven't. I usually don't ask for anything for Christmas. I'm usually just like, "Surprise me."

The mission of Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette is to enhance the artistic and cultural environment of Greater Lafayette through theatrical productions and educational opportunities.
