In the Wings: Escanaba in da Moonlight. Meet Ted Malone.

Ted Malone plays Officer Tom Treado in Jeff Daniels' "Escanaba in da Moonlight," the fifth and final production in the 2014-2015 MainStage season at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette.

The show runs May 8-23 at Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette, 320 N. 5th Street in downtown Lafayette. You can purchase tickets by visiting or calling 765-423-7529.

Question: Why did you audition?
Ted Malone: First, I really wanted the opportunity to work with Steve Becker as the director. Second, I saw the movie and read the play, and I just had to be part of it.

Q: What do you like about Tom? What are some of his good traits?
T.M.: Tom is very focused. Under normal situations he isn't quite the woodsman as others because he's just arrived at the Upper Peninsula from Detroit. He's fun because he's a bit nutty and has had a troubling night.

Q: What will an audience enjoy most about the show?
T.M.: I think they can sit back and enjoy a bunch of men having fun and going through a bit of a crisis together.

Q: What is it like being in a play with only adult men in the cast?
T.M.: It's been different than other plays I've been in that include women and younger people.

Q: If you could take a family vacation anywhere, where would it be?
T.M.: I don't want my family to be unhappy. Probably San Francisco because there's an amusement park nearby, professional sports and great food. Those are a few of my favorite things.

The mission of Civic Theatre of Greater Lafayette is to enhance the artistic and cultural environment of Greater Lafayette through theatrical productions and educational opportunities.
